Iran has condemned as inhumane and indiscriminate a recent bomb attack that killed nearly 50 people in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.
In a statement on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham expressed sympathy with the families of the victims.

Earlier in the day, at least 47 people were killed and more than 70 others injured when a bomb attack targeted the anti-government protesters in Tahrir Square in central Sanaa.

Afkham further pointed to the peace deal struck between the Yemeni government and Ansarullah fighters of the Shia Houthi movement on September 21, emphasizing the need for both parties to honor their obligations under the agreement.

The Iranian official also called for vigilance and cooperation among all sides involved in Yemens political affairs to uproot terrorism in the Arab country.

The peace deal in Yemen was inked after Ansarullah fighters took over Sanaa following week-long clashes with Salafist militants backed by Major General Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar, who is the stepbrother of former dictator, Ali Abdullah Saleh.

The Ansarullah activists played a key role in the ouster of Saleh in 2012.
