Anti-ISIL campaign to fail without Iran: Iran official

A senior Iranian presidential advisor says the US-led so-called international coalition against the Takfiri ISIL group will fail because of the Islamic Republic's refusal to join it due to the US dishonesty.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran is a country that has ensured its own security despite all mischief, and the Western coalition against extremist and violence-seeking grouplets will not succeed in this battle without the contribution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Younesi, who advises President Hassan Rouhani on ethnic and religious minorities, said on Sunday.
If the US and the West were honest, the Islamic Republic of Iran would certainly help them but they are definitely not honest, he said, adding that Iran will never agree to join a US-led coalition.
Younesi said big powers created the Takfiri ISIL group in an attempt to defame Islam, adding that the world powers are currently unable to contain these terrorist militants.

The United Nations Secretary General [Ban Ki-moon] was expected not to be influenced by world powers and fulfill his responsibility vis--vis the biggest crimes, which have been committed by Israel in the [Middle East] region, the Iranian official said.

Paris recently hosted a conference, dubbed the International Conference on Peace and Security in Iraq, to discuss ways of tackling the ISIL terrorists in Iraq and Syria amid US efforts to form a so-called international coalition to battle the Takfiri group.

In an exclusive interview with NBC News in Tehran on Wednesday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called the US-led coalition against the ISIL terrorists ridiculous.

The coalition members include those who provided the ISIL with weapons and training, Rouhani added.
