Najafi appointed caretaker science minister

Tehran, August 20, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday appointed Mohammad Ali Najafi as caretaker minister of science, research and technology.
The President called on the head of Iranˈs Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization to take the helm of Ministry of Science, hours after former minister Reza Faraji Dana failed to win the Iranian lawmakersˈ vote of confidence in an impeachment session.

Out of the 270 lawmakers present in todayˈs session, 145 legislators voted against Faraji Dana, while 110 voted in his favor, with 115 abstentions.

In a separate decree, President Rouhani appointed Faraji Dana as his advisor for scientific and educational affairs.
