Iran will not accept symbolic enrichment: Top negotiator
Tehran, Aug 10, IRNA Iran will not accept uranium enrichment in a symbolic manner, top Iranian negotiator Majid Takhte-Ravanchi said on Sunday.
Talking to IRNA, the deputy foreign minister for European and American affairs noted that Iran-G5+1 interim nuclear agreement in Geneva contained an article that allows extension of negotiations after the expiry of Geneva deal.
Iran will do its best to reach a consensus with G5+1 but not at any cost, he added.

The official underlined that world powers should consider Iran?s red lines as a precondition to success of talks.

G5+1 member states should not make excessive demands beyond Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and take a realistic approach towards Iran?s nuclear program, he underscored.

Takhte-Ravanchi asserted that Iran will not accept partial or temporary removal of sanctions and G5+1 should guarantee lifting of all embargos imposed on Tehran illegally.

Tehran will not accept reversible sanctions relief, he added.

The deputy foreign minister noted that it is the Iranian Majlis that decides about acceptance of additional protocol and it has the final say in this regard.

Iran and G5+1 have disagreement on two major issues concerning removal of sanctions and enrichment, he announced.

Takhte-Ravanchi underlined that Iran is quite transparent in its nuclear program and it will continue efforts to achieve self sufficiency in providing Bushehr nuclear power plant with its required fuel.

He underlined that negotiations are held under the guidelines of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei.

Exact date and venue for the upcoming talks between Iran and G5+1 have not been determined yet, the official stated.

Iran is committed to make good interactions with the world and in particular with its neighboring states based on mutual respect, the deputy foreign minister noted.
