Iran condemns terrorist incident in Yemen

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned a Friday terrorist attack in Yemen that killed 14 soldiers.
Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham on Sunday censured the tragic incident, and expressed Iran’s sympathy with the Yemeni government and nation and the bereaved families of the victims.

She once again voiced the Islamic Republic’s support for “unity and stability” in the Arab country.

“Consultation and cooperation among the entire groups and parties in the political process as well as the Yemeni people’s vigilance will undoubtedly eradicate such an ominous phenomenon (terrorism),” Afkham stressed.

Her comments came after 14 soldiers were executed by al-Qaeda militants in Yemen in an apparent revenge attack after a recent army crackdown in the east of the country.

The soldiers, who were travelling home to Sana’a on a public bus, were ordered off and taken to a market in Seiyoun on Friday. Their bullet-riddled bodies were found on a road near the city about three hours later.
