Iran mens national hoop takraw team has demonstrated impressive displays at the 2014 International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF) World Cup in Thailand, and finished runner-up in the tournament.
On Tuesday, the host nation landed in the first position of chart with 750 points at the end of the hoop takraw competitions at Bangkoks Fashion Island.

Iranians ended their campaign with 550 points and finished in second place, and were followed by the Filippino side.

Hoop takraw seems to be the most popular version of takraw.

A team usually consists of seven players (there can be no less than six) who stand at the perimeter of a circle.

During a 30-minute period, the players cooperate with each other to earn a high score.

Hoops are suspended over the center, and the players must hit the ball through them.
Successive teams try to surpass the previous score.

The 2014 International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF) World Cup opened in the Thai capital Bangkok on August 5, and will wrap up on August 8.

The sports event has brought together 25 teams from various countries of the world, including Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.

The ISTAF World Cup aims to modernize the traditional sport of sepaktakraw. Alongside the ISTAF SuperSeries, the ISTAF World Cup is a platform to showcase the best of the sport and seeks to broaden the appeal of the sport to the international community.
