Iran hosting 2014 Bismillah International Festival
The 11th edition of Bismillah International Festival has kicked off at Niavaran Cultural Complex in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
The festival which is hosting various Quranic artworks created by Iranian and foreign artists has started its work during an opening ceremony held on July 11.

Irans former Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini and a number of prominent artists attended the gala.

Over 4700 works created by the international artists entered this edition of the festival. Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Denmark and Tunisia are among the participated countries, said the festivals secretary Mohammad Reza Kamarei.

Many graphic, photography, posters, calligraphy and logotype works, centered on the theme of bismillah, have been displayed at the event.

Copies of the 135 selected works are slated to be showcased during an exhibition for 10 days, and then will be displayed at Hamburg Islamic Center in Germany.

Bismillah is the Arabic word which is used as the collective name of the phrase Bismillahi-r Rahmani-r rahim meaning 'In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.'

The 11th Bismillah International Festival is scheduled to run until July 21, 2014.
