Iran: Voting to boost stability, security in Egypt

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Irans foreign ministry spokeswoman described voting as peoples legitimate right, and said participation of all groups in Egypt's political process will help the country boost stability and security.


Referring to Egypts last week presidential election, Marziyeh Afkham said Iran considers holding elections as a legitimate right of people and a step towards the enhancement of democracy.





She said the continuation of this (political) process in Egypt through broad participation of all parties and political groups will complete the process of establishment of national governance, solidarity and unity of the countrys civil society.

Afkham added that the process will also have an effect in boosting stability in Egypt and elevating the countrys regional status.

Former Egyptian army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi won a landslide victory in the countrys presidential election on May 29.

He won more than 93 percent of votes cast. His only rival, leftist politician Hamdeen Sabahi, gained 3 percent while 3.7 percent of votes were declared void.
