Iranian-Austrian Symphony Orchestra to perform in Tehran

A joint Symphony Orchestra of Iranian and Austrian musicians is slated to present programs in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
The orchestra will perform Russian composer Dmitri Dmitriyevich Shostakovichs Symphony No. 9 during a concert at Tehrans Vahdat Hall.

The symphony has not been presented in Iran for a period of 36 years, said the orchestra director Maziar Yunesi.

Irans eminent musicians Nader Mashayekhi, Azin Movahhed and Mohammad Reza Tafazzoli have been selected to collaborate with the orchestra.

Shostakovichs symphony No. 9 is an ironic parody of Russian composer and pianist (19061975).

Iranian-Austrian Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to be held in September, 2014.
