Iran, Russia call for enhanced customs relations

Tehran, May 28, IRNA Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Dzhagaryan and head of Iran?s Customs Administration Masoud Karbasian on Wednesday held talks on ways to develop customs cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was held in the run-up to a visit to Russia by Karbasian.

Karbasian said that Tehran and Moscow are going to sign a new document on customs cooperation.

A rise in the level of trade between Iran and Russia, has urged both countries to ink a new customs deal to cover new needs, Karbasian said.

He said that part of the new document will require both Iran and Russia to introduce their reputable merchants for receiving customs facilities from the other country.

The Iranian official also underlined the need for bilateral cooperation on fight against organized crimes.

The Russian ambassador, for his part, said he was not satisfied with the current level of trade between the two countries. He called for utilization of the existing potentials to augment bilateral trade.

Dzhagaryan pledged to make every effort to solve the problems of Iranian merchants in Russia at the earliest.
