Tehran, May 26, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani on Monday highlighted tourism industry as a major element in taking shape of Resistance Economy to lead national economy steer clear of the western economies.President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with senior officials of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization in a ceremony in Tehran on the occasion of cultural heritage week.
President Rouhani said that foreign tourists should be treated with respect and Iranian-Islamic hospitality.
Rouhani said that proper treatment of foreign visitors is much more important than the attractions of archeological sites.
The Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization should play its role in taking shape of the Resistance Economy, President Rouhani said, adding that tourism industry helps greate jobs and bring in foreign exchange income.
He called for more active presence of private sector in the field of tourism and handicrafts. He voiced governments readiness to provide support to investment by the private sector.
Meanwhile, President Rouhani underlined the necessity to boost cooperation with the neighboring countries on tourism, particularly health tourism.
