Iran Culture Min.: Monologue unappealing to culture sector

Tehran, May 24, IRNA - Iran?s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati said his ministry disfavors monologue and backs all tastes in art and culture, the English-language newspaper ?Iran Daily? reported on Saturday.
This is the atmosphere the government intends to create in encompassing all preferences, Jannati added.
Our managers also disapprove of extremism and dogmatism. We believe that we should use the capacities and ideas of all domestic experts who believe in the countrys system, Jannati said,

Even extremists should abandon their beliefs and contribute to management of the country, he underlined.

Referring to his priorities in the ministry, he said, In economy, culture and art sectors, we try to present the work of our artists in international arenas and earn revenue.

He noted if Iranian artists produce valuable works, they will be welcomed internationally.

To achieve cultural justice and remove the current huge shortcomings in this respect, everybody must make efforts, he said.

Jannati said, It is not acceptable that we concentrate all the facilities in Tehran province. We should prepare equal conditions for artists in all provinces and even deprived regions.

The culture minister added the ministry will endeavor to convince the government to allocate more funds to other provinces and regions.

NGOs should be supported all over the country, he urged.

Domestic artists should have grounds to meet and exchange views, he said, adding problems and requirements are numerous while the governments resources are limited.

Art is the most expressive media for conveying concepts, ideas and cultures to others and has a language which is comprehensible for most of the people. Art can find its way through geographical, cultural and political divides and penetrate into the depth of peoples hearts, the official stressed.

Dramatic arts, music and painting are very expressive and easily understood by most people, Jannati added.

He stressed, We must hold commemoration ceremonies for prominent figures and introduce them to the people because they are irreplaceable assets of the society.
