An official close to Irans nuclear negotiating team has slammed the West for having excessive demands in talks over Tehrans nuclear energy program.The West must put aside excessive demands and have an accurate assessment of the realities on the ground, the official, whose name was not mentioned in the report, said on Friday.
Of course, difference of opinion, particularly in a sensitive matter such as the [Iranian] nuclear issue, is considered natural. However, considering the recent developments, it seemed that the West has achieved a degree of realism, but apparently this is not the case, he added.
The official also stated that the West still has the opportunity to adopt a realistic approach.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia - plus Germany started the third day of a fresh round of nuclear talks in the Austrian capital of Vienna on Friday.
The new talks, which constitute the fourth round of negotiations between the two sides, began in Vienna on May 14.
Iran and the six countries have been discussing ways to iron out differences and start drafting a final deal that would end the standoff over the Islamic Republics nuclear energy program.
In November 2013, the two sides signed an interim nuclear deal in the Swiss city of Geneva. The agreement came into force in January. Under the deal, the six countries agreed to provide Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for the Islamic Republic agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear energy program during a six-month period.
