Iran Fish and Cat wins at Swiss film festival

Iranian film Fish and Cat directed by Shahram Mokri has swept two top awards at the 28th Fribourg International Film Festival in Switzerland.
Mokris cinematic production received the FIPRESCI Jury (International Federation of the Cinematic Press) as well as the Youth Jury during prize-awarding ceremony held on Saturday.

Shot in one continuous sequence, the film was Irans only cinematic representative at the festival.

Mokris psychodrama contended for awards at the International Competition section of this years event.

The 127-minute movie depicts the story of a group of university students who face different problems during their trip to the north of Iran.

Produced by Kanoon Iran Novin, Fish and Cat has been participated in several international events so far.

The movie won the Special Orizzonti Award for Innovative Content at the 70th edition of Venice International Film Festival.

The film also won the Best Film Award and the Best Critics Award of the 2014 Istanbuls !f !nspired International Film Competition.

Mokri is one of the most successful Iranian directors whose films have been screened in numerous national and international festivals. His Limit of Circle received the Bronze Ebensee Bear of Austrias 36th Festival of Nations.

The 2014 Fribourg International Film Festival was held from March 29 March to April 5.
