TEHRAN (Tasnim) A senior Iranian legislator called on the countrys government to strongly come out against the UN Chief Ban Ki-moons interfering comments about Iran.

The government must give a crushing response to the recent remarks made by UN secretary general about freedom of speech in Iran, Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini, the rapporteur of the Iranian parliaments national security and foreign policy commission, told the Tasnim News Agency.

Ban in a report to the UN Human Rights Council on Tuesday claimed that the new (Iranian) administration has not made any significant improvement in the promotion and protection of freedom of expression and opinion, despite pledges made by the president during his campaign and after his swearing in.

Both offline and online (news) outlets continue to face restrictions including closure, he asserted.

Naqavi Hosseini said the UN chief must explain why and according to which article of the UN Charter he is interfering in Irans internal affairs.

He accused Ban of implementing the Americans explicit agenda and serving the Zionists hidden objectives.

We consider the latest remarks by secretary general of the UN about freedom of expression in Iran as a blatant interference in our countrys internal affairs and declare that Ban Ki-moon is in no position to make such comments. The Iranian lawmaker reiterated.

Earlier on Wednesday, Supreme Leaders top aide for the international affairs had lashed out at the UN secretary general for his recent claims on lack of freedom of expression in Iran, and described Ban Ki-moon as the most impotent ever chief of the global body.
