Irans presence in open seas not just a military build-up: commander

Tehran, March 11, IRNA Presence of Irans Navy in open seas is not just a militay build-up but a true presence in the scene, Navy Commander Rear-Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said on Tuesday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the international conference of Role of Islamic World in Global Power Geometry, the navy commander commented on Wests negative propaganda about the presence of Irans naval force in the international waters.

Like other world countries, Iran is entitled to be present in international waters in accordance to international laws and regulations, said the commander noting that two third of the planet is covered with water, 80 percent of which is in open seas.

Referring to some reports on rescue of an Iranian ship by US warships, the commander said this is not a strange event as Irans Navy, too, has, so far, rescued 24-25 commercial ships in interantional waters.

This is an international law that the nearest ship should rush to help any troubled vessel, he said.

Commenting on the Zionist regimes latest claims over confiscating a ship allegedly carrying Iranian manufactured weapons, Commander Sayyari said, Tel Aviv usually resorts to such propaganda to increase Iranophobia.
