Iranian President Hassan Rouhani addresses ulema and clerics of Iran's southern province of Hormozgan on February 25, 2014.[/caption]Tehran, March 8, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday said that thinkers and those active in the field of media and press possess major part of the soft power in a society.
The President made the remarks while addressing the closing ceremony of the 20th festival of press, news agencies and news websites.
If we could divide the power in a society into hard power and soft power, then it could be said those active in the field of media and press and are known as the ?men of the pen? have major part of the soft power in their hands, said President.
Noting that the present age is the age of information and communication, President Rouhani said those are the ?true source of power in a country.?
More in the ceremony, President Rouhani paid tribute to a number of the distinguished figures in literary and press.
He awarded a plaque of honor to Parviz Khorsand, a veteran journalist, for his lifetime achievements in the fields of press and literary activities.
