Resistive economy lessens Irans reliance on oil income: Expert
TEHRAN March 5 (Shana)--A senior economist maintained that the major outcome of implementing the Resistance Economy scheme is that Iran will no longer be dependent on oil revenues.
The Resistance Economy is aimed at minimizing reliance on oil income by Iran because expansive sanctions against the [petroleum] industry have blocked the countrys access to the petroleum revenues, Jamshid Pajooyan told Shana.

He also called on Petroleum Ministry to reduce domestic consumption of hydrocarbon reserves and preserve natural oil and gas reservoirs in a wise manner.

Pajooyan further underlined that the Resistance Economy will prompt Iran to work out plans to find income resources other than petroleum products, which requires formation of a novel economic structure in the country.

On February 25, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called on the three branches of the Iranian government to seriously pursue and implement the general policies of the resistance economy.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that there is a great deal of hope that economic prosperity will occur in the medium term and will partially alleviate the peoples economic concerns if the policies of the resistance economy are implemented seriously.

The Leader had outlined the general policies of Irans resistance economy in a decree issued on February 19.
