The refusal by Iran to create a nuclear bomb opens up new prospects on the agenda of the talks between Iran and the six negotiating nations, said Mikhail Margelov, head of the Federation Council's International Affairs Committee.

"Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stated that his country refuses to create a nuclear bomb. Earlier the country's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei signed a religious decree banning the production of nuclear weapons in Iran, calling it a sin. All this opens a completely new perspective on the agenda of the next round of talks between Iran and the six negotiators," Margelov told reporters.

The talks are due on March 17, he recalled.

"Thus favorable conditions have been created for a comprehensive agreement to be drafted, which would lift the sanctions against Iran completely. It would be fitting to point to Tehran's previous persistent efforts to persuade the global community that it had no plans to create a nuclear bomb," Margelov added.
