Leader's top Aide calls for more unity among Muslims

TEHRAN (FNA)- Supreme Leader's top Aide in international affairs Ali Akbar Velayati called on the Muslim nations to keep vigilant against the divisive plots hatched by the enemies to create rift among them.
Speaking in a press conference in Tehran on Sunday, Velayati stressed that the enemy is trying to provoke sectarian violence in Syria, Iraq and Bahrain, underlining the need for consolidation of solidarity among Muslim nations.

Iran has always attached key importance to paving the way for enhancement of interaction and cooperation among Muslim nations.

For instance, Tehran hosted the 9th Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states' Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) with the participation of over 25 parliament speakers, 10 vice-speakers and 50 parliamentary delegations from different world states earlier this month.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, formerly Organization of the Islamic Conference, was established in 1969 and has 57 members. The organization aims to promote dialogue between Islamic countries and the rest of the world and also protect the interests of Muslims when necessary.

The OIC Parliamentary Union has 53 members.
