Irans pharmaceutical exports exceeds $88mln
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Customs Administration announced that exports of pharmaceuticals from Iran have exceeded $88 million in the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2013-January 20, 2014).


According to the latest customs data, Iran exported a sum of 6,923 tons of medicine worth $88.243 billion.

Last year, a senior Iranian health official said the country is capable of supplying a major part of its domestic needs to medical equipments and is among the world exporters of medical products.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the 16th Iran Health International Exhibition, Qassem Abkhezr, the head of the exhibition's organizing committee, lauded Iran's remarkable progress in the production of medical equipments in the last three decades since the victory of the Islamic Revolution (1979), and said,

"We have reached a level of progress that we are now able to both produce over 54% of our needed equipments and become one of the well-known exporters of medical equipments in the world."

He added that Iran is now exporting medical tools to over 40 countries of the world.

Iran has made huge achievements in various fields of science and technology, from nuclear knowledge to stem cell and Nano technology.

Iran earned over $29bln from exporting non-oil commodities to the foreign markets in the first nine months of the Iranian calendar year (March 21-December 20, 2013).

According to the latest data released by the Iranian Customs Administration, Iran exported $29.24bln worth of non-oil goods, including petrochemical products, during the nine-month period, marking an 11.8-percent rise in terms of weight from the previous year.

Petrochemical products accounted for more than $8bln of the countrys overall non-oil exports.

Iran also exported $6.363bln of gas condensates and $14.761bln worth of other goods during the same period.

Iron ore, methanol and urea were Irans main exports respectively valued at $1.33bln, $877mln and $866mln.

The non-oil exports weighed 65.999mln tons, which were mainly exported to China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, India and Afghanistan.

Iran exported over $21bln worth of non-oil commodities in the seven months through October 21, indicating a 7.5- percent rise in weight year on year.

The non-oil exports weighed 49.325mln tons.
