Iran denounces massacre in Syria village

Tehran has strongly condemned the massacre of Syrian civilians in the village of Maan in Hama Province by terrorist groups.

Irans Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkhamon Wednesday expressed condolences to the families of the victims, decrying the terrorist act.

On Sunday, the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which relies on a network of spies working for the foreign-backed opposition, said militants had killed 25 pro-government fighters in the village.

However, Syrian state news agency SANA said the victims included 42 women, children and elderly people, adding that extremists had committed the massacre.
Afkham said apart from the perpetrators of the massacre, those who pave the way for weapons and terrorists entering into Syria and fuel sedition by supporting extremist groups are responsible for the killing of women and children of Maan.
She also called on regional and international organizations as well as humanitarian institutions to take serious and immediate measures to stop the killing of the innocent people of Syria.

Syria has been gripped by deadly crisis since March 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies -- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey -- are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.

Some sources say around 130,000 people have been killed and millions displaced in Syria due to the violence fueled by Western-backed militants.
