Zistboom:Iran is ready to purchase 10 million tons of wheat from domestic farmers in the framework of guaranteed purchase in the next Iranian year (starting March 21, 2014) an official announced.Hossein Safaie, the head of Central Organization of Rural Cooperative of Iran (CORC) also told IRNA that compared to the current years purchase, the next years volume will show a twofold increase.
He added that the government has passed a law, based on which wheat purchase will be undertaken by CORC.
"The reason for the twofold purchase of wheat in the coming year is the prompt announcement of the guaranteed price by the state, he said, predicting that due to the guaranteed purchase of wheat, the huge amount of next years wheat would be sold to the state.
The reason is that the next years price accords with the international rate of wheat.
"Last year, 4.8 million tons of wheat were purchased from farmers by the government, he said.
Currently, 2,280 sites have been identified for setting up wheat purchasing centers, from which the best centers would be selected.
Officials plan to purchase wheat in 1,000 centers next year, while last year 650 such centers were active.
