Iran fully prepared to protect itself, minister

Shahr-e-Rey, Tehran Prov, Feb 2, IRNA – Minister of Defense Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said Sunday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is fully prepared to protect itself.

Speaking to IRNA on the sidelines of a ceremony at the mausoleum of the Father of the Islamic Revolution the late Imam Khomeinie in southern Tehran, the minister said, ˈIran is pursuing a policy of détente relying on its domestic capabilities.ˈ

ˈEnemies are frightened by Iranˈs high defensive capabilities,ˈ Dehqan added.

He stressed that Iranˈs defensive power is rooted in the significant efforts and endeavors of the countryˈs experts.

President Hassan Rouhani and his cabinet members Sunday morning attended the Imamˈs mausoleum to renew allegiance to him.

The visit was held on the occasion of the Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn), commemorating the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 11, 1979 (Bahman 22, 1357).
