Iran, Europe expand agricultural ties

Berlin, Jan 20, IRNA - Visiting Iranian Minister of Agriculture Jihad Mahmoud Hojjati said here on Monday Iran and European countries are to boost cooperation in producing agricultural products and foodstuff in near future.

He made the remarks while talking to IRNA on the sidelines of the 6th Agricultural Ministers? Summit in Berlin.

He added that during his meetings with top European officials, avenues for bolstering agricultural cooperation were discussed.

Representing nearly 3 billion people or 40 percent of the world population, some 72 agriculture ministers are attending the top-level summit following an invitation by the German agriculture ministry.

Invitees include also the representatives of the UN, European Commission and the World Bank.

Talks were focusing on socio-economic, as well as ecological challenges for the food and agricultural industry amid a growing world population and worsening climate change.
