Nasim A British MP believes full participation of Iran in the Geneva II conference on Syria is key to solve Syrian war diplomatically.
Jeremy Corbyn a Labour MP for Islington North whovisited Tehran as part of the first British parliamentary delegation to Iran wrote in a piece for the Morning Star thatSyria, nuclear issues and rebuilding relations between Britain and Iran were the three main topics discussed between British delegation and Iranian officials.
[The war in Syria] cannot be resolved by anything other than a political process. So to offer Iran anything less than full participation in next weeks Geneva 2 conference on Syria would be counterproductive and insulting to Iran, he wrote.

On January 5, US Secretary of State John Kerry suggested Iran could play sideline role in Syrian peace talks. he proposedthat Irans diplomatic office in Geneva might be able to help as an unofficial participant.

But Iran Says it will participate in the upcoming Geneva 2 talks on Syria if it is invited without any preconditions. However, we are not seeking this invitation.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif made the remark during his visit from Lebanon earlier this week.

Despite requests from British MPs on both sides of the house for an assurance that Iran would be involved as a full participant as one of the neighboring states and one that has been politically aligned with Assad, there is no confirmation that this will happen, Corbyn stated.

We hope that even at this late stage the British and US governments will recognize how crucial it is for Iran to be involved in order to bring about a ceasefire and ultimately a political solution.
