Zarif urges regional support for Iraqi counter-terrorism efforts

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed that terrorism and extremism pose problem to the region and its settlement needs regional solution, reiterating that all regional states need to support Iraqi government's counter-terrorism efforts.
"Extremism and sectarianism is a regional and international problem which needs international solution. The Iraqi people and Syria are suffering much pressure in this area and regional countries need to support the Iraqi government's measure in fighting terrorism," he told reporters in Baghdad upon his arrival on Tuesday.

Zarif is scheduled to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari and Parliament Speaker Osama al-Najafi to discuss issues of mutual interests as well as regional and international developments during his trip to Baghdad.

Zarif arrived in Iraq on Tuesday on the second leg of his regional tour started from Lebanon
