Iranian, Iraqi firms to cooperate on technical-engineering projects in Iraq

Tehran, Jan 8, IRNA Ways for cooperation of Iranian and Iraqi companies to get involved in Iraqi technical-engineering projects were reviewed in Tehran on Wednesday.

IRNA economic correspondent said that the Iranian and Iraqi companies held a meeting at the premises of Iran Association of Tehcnical Engineering Services Exporting Companies to remove the obsatcles in the way of Iranian contractors operating in Iraq and creating new opportunities for them.


Secretary of the association, Siyamak Dolatshahi told the meeting that Iran and Iraq boast numeous commonalities in variuos fields such as religion, geography and culture which should be utilized for enhancing level of economic cooperation.

He further noted that over 30 Iranian firms are involved in the Iraqi development projects and engineering diplomacy is messenger of welfare, peace and convergence in the region and the entire world.

Based on the statistics released last year, about 70 percent of Irans total technical and engineering exports are destined to the friendly and neighboring state.

Statistics indicated that the value of technical and engineering exports to Iraq amounted to two billion dollars last year.
