Iran-Turkey trade value hit $13.5 billion in 11 months

Ankara, Jan 8, IRNA The volume of trade transactions between Iran and Turkey hit $13.5 billion in the first 11 months of 2013.
Iran exported more than $9 billion to Turkey in the said period whereas Iran accounted for 4.2 percent of Turkey?s imports and 2.4 percent of that country?s exports.

The international relations experts pointed to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif?s visit to Ankara and his meetings with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, and said, ?The Iranian and Turkish foreign ministers have agreed to increase the volume of their trade to $50 billion in a mid-term period.?

These experts assessed the signing of trade preferences agreement in the upcoming meeting of the two countries? high-ranking officials? meetings an important step to move towards free trade between Iran and Turkey.
