Iran calls for boost in ties with Turkmenistan

Tehran, Dec 29, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia-Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour called for fostering all-out cooperation between Tehran and Ashkhabad.

Rahimpour who is visiting Ashkhabad made the remarks in a meeting with the Turkmen Foreign Minister Rasit Meredow.

Meredow described Iran as Turkmenistan’s neighbor and its closest friend.

He further said promotion of ties with neighboring states is his country’s top priority.

On Caspian Sea, Meredow said it belongs to all littoral states, adding Ashkhabad is ready to hold bilateral talks with Iran on related issues.

The two at the end called for making use of the existing potentials in both countries to bolster all-out ties and reviewed the latest international and regional developments.
