Acclaimed Iranian movie Taboor directed by Vahid Vakilifar has entered the top 10 list of one of the most renowned film websites, Indiewire.

Vakilifar’s feature-length film has been named as one of the top 10 movies in 2013 in the category of Best Undistributed Film.

Taboor which means the naval of the earth in old mythology is about human beings trapped in the surrounding environment.

Using naturalistic lighting and sparse dialogue, Vakilifar creates a new reality by simplifying rather than exaggerating his current one.

Distributed by the French company DreamLab Films, the movie was awarded at several international festivals such as the Critic’s Prize at the 15th Deauville Asian Film Festival in France in March, 2013.

Taboor also received the First Special Mention of the 2012 Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece and Special Jury Prize of the 2012 International Film Festival of Marrakech in Morocco.

Some critics asserted that “Vakilifar's nearly wordless film happily dispenses with almost any kind of context in order to focus strictly on the highly charged imagery.”

Some other reviewers believe that the movie pays homage to the aforementioned Tarkovsky and Kubrick films.
