Iran condemns instrumental use of human rights against independent states

Tehran, Dec 19, IRNA - Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham on Thursday strongly condemned instrumental use of human rights against independent countries.
She made the remarks in reaction to ratification of an anti-Iran human rights resolution at the 68th United Nations General Assembly.

Human Rights is the root cause of development and perfection among world nations, she said.

The UN resolution has briefly mentioned Irans 11th presidential election as well as the measures taken by the new Iranian government but in most cases it has referred in details to unreal news obtained from terrorist groups or websites and media affiliated to the West, she said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly rules out such a resolution, she said adding that Iran condemns instrumental use of human rights against independent states and expresses regret over the fact that the issue of human rights has turned into a political ploy.

The so-called advocates of human rights have records of systematic violations of human rights, she said.

Iran based on the Islamic teachings and the principles endorsed by its constitution, is obliged to defend the rights of its people and underlines that the issue of human rights should be respected and used to help promote cooperation among world nations, she said.
