Tehran, Dec 16, IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif on Monday deplored the latest waves of terrorism in Iraq.

?Terrorism is a sinister move against both countries (of Iran and Iraq), against all nations and against regional states. It doubles the necessity for cooperation and collaboration among regional states to counter the ominous phenomenon,? Zarif told Ibrahim al-Jaafari, leader of the National Iraqi Alliance.

Zarif expressed condolence to the Iraqi government and nation on the tragic terrorist event.

He thanked the Iraqi government and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki for taking necessary measures to investigate the cold-blood murder of 18 Iranian workers involved in laying pipeline in Iraq.

He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran expects the Iraqi government to bring to justice those involved in unmanly massacre of a group of workers.

?Both countries will do their best to consolidate ties despite all the cowardly action,? he added.

He recalled Iran?s principled stance for expansion of ties with the neighbors, notably Iraq.

He said Iran supports unity, integrity and development of Iraq and hoped for restoration of stability and security in Iraq.
