Rejection of autocratic rule, agenda of APA session: Iranian MP

Islamabad, Dec 12, IRNA Member of Iranian Parliament (MP) has said that rejection of autocratic rule and support to the aspirations of people was the main objective of the sixth session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) held in the city of Islamabad.
Speaking to IRNA, Avze Haiderpour MP said that it was because of efforts of Iran that the Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace (AAPP) was transformed into the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).

The representatives from 31 countries including Iran, participated in the sixth Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).

The Iranian delegation was led by Majlis Vice Speaker Mohammad Hassan Abutorabifard.

Haiderpour who is also member of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission added that precipitating countries in the session had stressed to make the APA more effective.

He said that Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, Chairman of Pakistani Senate and President of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari and Chairman of the organizing Committee of Asian Parliamentary Assembly Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed in their speeches assured full support of Pakistan in decision making process of the APA.

He said that enhancing cooperation of Asian countries in economic, political and social sectors was the main agenda of the APA session.

Haiderpour added that situation of Syria was discussed in detail during the session and the standing committees of the APA gave special attention to the issue.

The Iranian lawmaker went on to say that the delegation of Syria presented a balanced report about the role of their country in the APA.

He said that strengthening of democratic process among the Asian countries was also stressed in the session.

The Iranian politician said that the APA session gave special attention to enhance cooperation among Asian countries in transport sector, joint banking and holding of exclusive economic meetings.

Haiderpour hailed the speech of Prime Minister Sahrif in which he stressed the need for exploring the full potential of Asian countries.

The lawmaker added that the challenges to Asian countries were also discussed in the APA standing committees meetings.

He said that deliberations of the APA standing committees would be included in the next session of the APA.

He said that Iran would also present its proposals in the next APA session in dealing with challenges to Asian countries.

Earlier the APA session had approved Islamabad Declaration condemning U.S. drone strikes and all type of secret operations and termed them as violation of sovereignty of other countries.

The declaration called upon the warring parties in Syria to halt fighting immediately for resolving the conflict.
