Tehran, Dec 10, IRNA In order to talk to Iran and reach a mutual understanding, West must consider Irans present situation, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham said Tuesday.
She made the remarks while commenting on a report on a statement by US Secretary of State John Kerri who had claimed Iran, in a letter in 2003, had voiced its readiness to stop the countrys nuclear program.
Iran has always been ready to seriously remove concerns of the other side, Afkham said addressing domestic and foreign reporters at her weekly press briefing.
She added, during that period (2003), the West failed to make use of the existing opportunities for talks and, instead, decided to resort to sanctions. ?The reason for its move is crystal clear.?
Today, there is again a chance for talks and reaching a mutual understanding to settle the unnecessary crisis. Western powers should use it this time and talk to the Iranian nation with respect showing their political determination to solve the problem.
She reiterated the Iranians? mistrust towards Washington.
