TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iran has managed to produce laser-guided missiles with increased range, the countrys defense minister said, adding that the ballistic missiles margin of error in hitting their targets is now below 2 meters.The fixed precision of our long-range missiles has increased to the extent that we can hit every point we wish, Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said in a televised speech on Sunday.
The defense minister also noted that Iranian experts have managed to decrease the margin of error in ballistic missiles to less than 2 meters, adding that ballistic missiles are being guided with laser technologies.
Pointing to the increased range of Iranian missiles, Dehqan said they are installable on a variety of fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft.
Earlier in September, the defense minister unveiled the air-launched version of two indigenous cruise missiles, Qader (Capable) and Nasr (Victory), to be mounted on fighter jets.
Those two missiles had been originally designed and mass-produced as anti-ship cruise missiles.
After designing and mass producing Qader and Nasr anti-ship cruise missiles, the adroit and skillful specialists of the defense ministrys aerospace organization managed to design and produce the air-launched versions of these missiles with exemplary creativity and innovation, Dehqan said at the time.
He further noted that the air-launched versions of Qader and Nasr missiles are able to hit targets within a range of 200 km and 35 km, respectively.
The main features of the new missiles, Dehqan said, are quick preparation capability, usefulness in low-altitude flights, high precision in hitting targets, particularly naval vessels, great destructive power and high resistance to radio disruption tactics.
