Iraqi PM to review Syria crisis in Iran: analyst

Tehran, Dec. 3, IRNA A prominent political analyst said on Tuesday the upcoming visit to Tehran of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is aimed at holding talks with top Iranian officials on Syrian crisis.
Talking to IRNA, Imam Sadiq University (ISU) professor Davoud Hermidas Bavand stressed that since Iraq attaches great importance to Syria, it has always tried to establish peace and tranquility in that Arab state.

He stressed that countries involved in the Syrian issue consider Iran as a powerful and influential country in the region.

Al-Maliki is due to visit Iran on Wednesday, December 4, heading a high-ranking delegation.

This would be the first visit to Iran of the Iraqi prime minister after the inauguration of President Hassan Rouhani.
