MP: Geneva N. deal stipulates Iran's enrichment right

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian lawmaker said that the new nuclear agreement signed between Iran and the six major world powers gives Tehran the right to enrich uranium domestically.


In the Geneva deal, some of our nuclear rights, including the right to enrichment and keeping enriched (uranium) reserves in the country, have been established, deputy chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mansour Haqiqatpoursaid on Sunday.

In relevant remarks on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif underlined that Iran's uranium enrichment right has been recognized in the newly signed nuclear agreement with the six major world powers in Geneva.

In an interview with the NBC news, Zarif said Irans right to enrichment has been recognized in the deal.

Commenting on the contents of the nuclear deal, the Iranian top diplomat stressed that the agreement says that Iran has an enrichment program and a right to (use) nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. For me the right to (use) nuclear (technology) for peaceful purposes incorporates the right to enrichment.

He noted that the deal is an important achievement but a first step toward resolving an unnecessary crisis, stressing that the two sides need to work together based on equal footing, mutual respect and common benefits to settle the dispute over Tehrans nuclear issue.

On Sunday morning, Iran and the G5+1(the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) reached a final deal after days of hard work and intensive negotiations.
