A senior Iraqi official has hailed the new nuclear deal between Iran and the six world powers as a major step toward strengthening stability and security in the Middle East.On Sunday, Ali al-Musawi, a top advisor to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki,described the nuclear agreement reached between Tehran and the six powers - the US, Britain, Russia, China, France and Germany - in Geneva as a significant success.
Early in the morning, Tehran and the Sextet sealed an interim deal over Irans nuclear energy program after more than four days of intensive negotiations in Geneva, Switzerland, in an effort to pave the way for the full resolution of the Wests decade-old standoff with Iran over its nuclear issue.
The Iraqi official said the Tehran-Sextet accord will have positive impacts on the Middle East by fortifying the pillars of stability, security and growth in the strategic region.
Musawi also congratulated Iran and the six powers on inking the historic agreement, stressing that Baghdad has from the start encouraged the process of nuclear negotiations between the two sides.
Following the announcement of the deal, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the agreement covers several important domains, the most important of which is the recognition of the right to enrichment.
According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the deal allows Iran to continue its activities at Arak, Fordow and Natanz facilities. The agreement also stipulates that no additional sanctions will be imposed on Tehran over its nuclear energy program.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani have also hailed the Geneva nuclear accord.
