Michael Mann, the spokesman for EU foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, has described the latest round of talks between Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Ashton as useful.Useful first meeting of the day now over, Mann said in a post on his Tweeter page about the meeting between Zarif and Ashton on Friday, according to Russian Interfax news agency.
EU High Representative Ashton is now debriefing E3+3 (the three European countries plus the US, Russia and China) Political Directors, he added.
Ashton and Zarif held three meetings on Thursday, but the political directors of the six powers did not hold plenary sessions on that day.

The two sides are working to hammer out an interim deal to pave the ground for the resolution of the Wests decade-old standoff with Iran over its nuclear energy program.
