Ashton-Zarif Friday talks useful: Mann

Michael Mann, the spokesman for EU foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, has described the latest round of talks between Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Ashton as useful.
Useful first meeting of the day now over, Mann said in a post on his Tweeter page about the meeting between Zarif and Ashton on Friday, according to Russian Interfax news agency.
EU High Representative Ashton is now debriefing E3+3 (the three European countries plus the US, Russia and China) Political Directors, he added.
Ashton and Zarif held three meetings on Thursday, but the political directors of the six powers did not hold plenary sessions on that day.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany kicked off their latest round of talks on Wednesday.

The two sides are working to hammer out an interim deal to pave the ground for the resolution of the Wests decade-old standoff with Iran over its nuclear energy program.

The recognition of Irans entitlement to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes remains one of the major sticking points in the talks.

Irans Deputy Foreign Minister for International and Legal Affairs Abbas Araqchi, who is also a member of the Iranian nuclear negotiating team, said on Thursday that Tehran would not accept any deal that does not include the right.

The Iranian team says discussions have already delved into content and details. However, they added that differences remain between the two sides.
