NAM strongly denounces Beirut terrorist attacks

The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) has vehemently condemned the recent terrorist attacks outside the Iranian embassy in the Lebanese capital of Beirut, which killed more than 20 people.
The 120-member organization, which is currently chaired by Iran, offered condolences to the families of the victims and expressed sympathy with those injured in the deadly attacks, which occurred on Tuesday.

NAM also called for the perpetrators of the terrorist attacks to be brought to justice and reaffirmed the need to combat terrorism by all means, in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.

Twin blasts outside the Iranian embassy in Beirut left at least 25 people dead, including six Iranian nationals, on Tuesday.

Reports say over 150 others were also injured in the terrorist attacks. The death toll is expected to rise, as many of the wounded are in critical condition.

The Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also strongly condemned the attacks.

In a Wednesday statement, OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu said that the organization strongly condemns all forms of terrorism and extremism.

He expressed the OICs grave concern over the heinous terrorist attacks in Beirut, which he said had put at risk peace, security and stability in Lebanon.

He also warned Lebanese political sides against efforts to undermine the Arab countrys security and peace.

Meanwhile, Irans President Hassan Rouhani, in a phone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart Michel Suleiman on Tuesday, called for the immediate identification of the perpetrators of the attacks.
