Rouhani, Suleiman discuss Beirut terrorist attack

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Lebanese counterpart Michel Suleiman discussed the recent terrorist attack in Beirut which claimed the lives of 23 people and left nearly 150 others wounded.
"These criminal messages only cause killing of innocent people and do not change principles and values," Suleiman said in the phone call.

He assured that terrorists are unable to open a dark page in the Lebanese history, but called on the Lebanese nation to be vigilant and keep national unity.

The Lebanese President urged the Lebanese security officials to identify and arrest operatives behind the explosions.

The Tuesday attack targeted just 10 meters away from Iranian embassy in Beiruts Southern neighborhood of Jinah, inflicting much damage to the compound.

The main gate of the Iranian Embassy was blown out by the first explosion, and the second blast happened just meters away from the embassy.

Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Rokn-Abadi is safe, but Iranian Cultural Attach to Lebanon Ebrahim Ansari was killed in the attack.
