TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian people chant the slogan Death to the US due to their lack of trust in Washingtons policies and stances, Iranian Parliament Speakers advisor for international affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam said on the threshold of November 4, the anniversary of the US embassy takeover in Tehran.We cannot trust the US yet and the Death to the US is a slogan that the Iranian nation has experienced and chants based on its historical experience, Sheikholeslam told FNA on Sunday.
Noting that the Iranian people have seen the US animosity since the 1953 coup against the democratically-elected government of Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddeq, he said in 1953 the US led the coup from its embassy in Tehran which has now been named by the Iranians as the den of spies.
All those who are suffering from the US and its cruel policies in the world and are aware of the plundering (of their wealth) that it does chant the slogan Death to US, Sheikholeslam said.
In relevant remarks on Saturday, Supreme Leader's representative at the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ali Saeedi said that Death to US will remain Iranian's main slogan and it will not fade away.
The Death to US slogan cannot be discarded, Saeedi said on the threshold of the anniversary of the US embassy takeover.
November 4 marks three important events in Iranian history: the takeover of the former US embassy in Tehran by Muslim students following the Imam's line in 1979 and the exile of the late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini by the Shah in 1964. It also marks the massacre of a large number of Iranian school students by the army of the former Pahlavi regime during the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Since the 1979 takeover of the US embassy in Tehran which was referred to as 'the den of spies, Iranians have been celebrating the occasion every year by holding rallies on the anniversary and marking it as the National Day against the 'Global Arrogance'.
