TEHRAN (FNA)- A high-ranking delegation from the Kazakh Parliament's Security, Defense and International Affairs Commission is slated to pay an official visit to Tehran on Sunday, Iranian Parliament Speakers advisor for international affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam said."A Kazakh parliamentary delegation will arrive in Tehran at around midday on Sunday," said the Iranian official, adding, "The delegation will have meetings with Iranian political and parliamentary officails on its agenda during its two-day visit to Tehran."
"Apart from a meeting with its Iranian counterpart, the Kazakh Parliament's Security, Defense and International Affairs Commission will also meet with Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and some other political officials," Sheikholeslam added.
Sheikholeslam said expansion of parliamentary relations between the two friendly nations and discussion of the current international and regional issues will be among the main topics of the talks between the Kazakh delegation and Iranian officials.
Kazakh Navy Commander Rear Admiral Zhandarbek Zhanzakov was in Tehran at the head of a high-ranking delegation earlier this week. Zhanzakov arrived in the Iranian capital on Tuesday in a visit which took place at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari.
At their meeting, both Navy commanders underlined the need for boosting cooperation between Iran and Kazakhstan in the Caspian Sea.
at the meeting we discussed expansion of mutual cooperation in educational fields and exchange of university students as well as repair, maintenance and building warships, Admiral Sayyari told reporters following the meeting.
He noted that in the meeting the two sides discussed conducting joint operations in the Caspian Sea in a bid to protect the sea as the sea of peace and friendship as well as fighting piracy, smuggling, protection of environment and conducting joint relief and rescue cooperation.
On Thursday, Commander of the Iranian Army's 4th Naval Zone Admiral Khordad Hakimi held a meeting with Rear Admiral Zhanzakov in Bandar Anzali port city.
Admiral Zhanzakov also visited naval units of the Navys Fourth Zone and warship after meeting Admiral Hakimi.
During his stay in Iran, the Kazakh commander visited Irans naval facilities and achievements as well.
