Tehran, Oct 19, IRNA Caretaker of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology JafarTowfiqi on Saturday called for optimal use of existing food resources by adopting proper methods of food conservation and avoiding excessive waste of agro products.He also asked for procurement of new food resources and qualitative improvement of food products.
He added that to that effect, scientific and research works should be done.
Touching on growing need of society for food with regards to population growth and decline of food resources, the official said it is one of the most important issues facing statesmen, scholars and researchers.
Towfiqi said, If no solution is sought for meeting the societys food demand in the future, huan beings will face danger of starvation and these all due to low quality of life, draught and hunger in major parts of the world.
He said the World Food Day provides an opportunity for officials and decision makers in foodstuff industry to make plans to secure healthy food supplies.
