TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian oil and foreign ministries will cooperate directly in the framework of economic diplomacy, a deputy minister said.Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for International and Commercial affairs Ali Majedisaid the oil diplomacy is a part of the economic diplomacy, adding that economic diplomacy is not confined to intergovernmental relations but includes both governmental and non-governmental entities relations like companies.
Referring to his close relations and his familiarity with Iranian minster of foreign affairs, Mohammad Javad Zarif and his deputies, the official told Shana that petroleum ministry will cooperate closely with foreign ministry and its related organs to go ahead with oil diplomacy.
"Oil diplomacy plays a crucial role in the economy expressing hope oil diplomacy could pave the way for entering into negotiations with governments and companies in order to advance past and present projects," he said.
"After lifting sanctions we plan to start talks with giant oil companies inviting them to take part in oil industry projects. Meanwhile oil companies should take into account that Iran sits atop one of the largest hydrocarbon reserves in the world," Majedi said.
Replying a question on cooperation with the neighboring countries, he said: in our view development of our county means development of the region.
According to him, the Islamic Republic of Iran prefers cooperation rather than competition with the neighboring countries and this is true especially on cooperation in oil and gas fields.
"We look to the interests of our country and other countries in the region as a whole," Majedi concluded.
