French FM sets conditions for Iran on Syria

Laurent Fabius, French Foreign Minister warns that Iran would need to accept the goal of the Geneva II conference: the establishment by consensus of a transitional government that would not include President Bashar al-Assad in order to be in any Syria peace negotiations.
His conditions comes just when Turkish President Abdullah Gl toldWashington Postthat he always made the point that Russia and Iran ought to be a part of these discussions. Ive seen from the outset how committed both Russia and Iran have been in terms of their position [on Syria], more so than others, he pointed out.

Mr. Fabius spoke withNew York Times Boardon the eve of speeches by world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly, where the Syria conflict is expected to be an overriding theme.
