Zarif: Iran doing its utmost to free the world from WMD

New York, Sept 19, IRNA - Irans Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Thursday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is doing its utmost to free the world from weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and nuclear weapons.
Speaking to IRNA, Zarif made the remarks on the sideline of his address at the meeting of permanent representatives of world countries in the United Nations headquarter in New York.

He underlined that Iranian President Hassan Rohani as the chairman of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) will deliver his speech in the UN nuclear disarmament summit .

The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been doing its best to get the world rid of nuclear weapons and WMD, he reiterated.

Referring to President Rohanis agenda at the 68th United Nations (UN) General Assembly annual meeting, he stressed that the Iranian president is scheduled to deliver his speech in the session and hold talks with leaders of different countries.

Zarif noted that the annual UN General Assembly meeting is considered as an opportunity for different countries to increase their interactions with the world.

He said Iran, too, will use the occassion to outline its opinions and plans in different arenas.

Zarif arrived in New York Wednesday night to attend the UN General Assembly annual meeting.

President Rohani will be in New York at the head of a delegation next week to attend the UN General Assembly meeting.

The 68th annual summit meeting of the UN General Assembly will start next week in presence of senior officials of 193 countries in New York.
