Iran to set up coast guard dock at Astara Port
ILNA: Iran will set up a coast guard dock at Astara Port, located in Irans northern province of Gilan bordering the Caspian Sea, Astara governor Keyvan Asadpour said.
Some 2.5 billion rials (about $100,000) has been spent to set up the dock, he added.

Patrol vessels will berth at the dock, he said.

Astara Port was inaugurated in April.

The port, as the first private sector port in Iran, will have a loading and unloading capacity of around 3 million tons.

The first phase of the project worth 300 billion rials (about $24.5 million) completed. Some 750 billion rials will be invested to inaugurate the next phases of the project.

Earlier, managing director of the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran, Ataollah Sadr, said that Iran has 14 ports in general, four of which, including Astara port are located on the Caspian shore.

The port aims to enhance commercial transactions with the Caspian Sea states, he added.
