U.S. using Mideast peace talks to flex its muscles

TEHRAN, Aug.28 (MNA) The recent resumption of peace talks between the Palestinian Authority and the Zionist regime, which are being mediated by the U.S., seems to be another trick Washington is using to flex its muscles in order to intimidate its opponents, especially those fighting against the lackeys of the U.S. in the battle for Syria.
The recent resumption of peace talks between the Palestinian Authority and the Zionist regime, which are being mediated by the United States, seems to be another trick Washington is using to flex its muscles in order to intimidate its opponents, especially those fighting against the lackeys of the U.S. in the battle for Syria.
Time has shown the futility of such initiatives since no one believes the talks will produce any positive outcome because the parties are not negotiating on an equal footing. The Palestinian people keep saying that negotiations held outside of an accepted framework will definitely produce no results. Even in the occupied territories, there is no concrete agreement about how to engage with the Palestinians.
The history of negotiations between Israel and the PA shows that it is always Israel that benefits from the talks, and the Palestinians come out of the meetings almost empty-handed.

Meanwhile, the Israelis continue to build and expand settlements in the West Bank, flouting the international communitys demands that they halt the illegal construction activities.

This intransigence makes any agreement between the two sides almost impossible.

The Palestinian refugees right of return is yet to be recognized by the Israelis, and there are still thousands of Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli prisons. The PA is in a very weak position compared to the previous rounds of talks, and it has no real clout or bargaining power to influence the other side in the negotiations.

Israel keeps insisting on the disarmament of Palestinian resistance groups as a precondition for reaching an agreement. However, the PA is not even accepted as the representative of the resistance groups fighting against Israels expansionism. All this shows that sitting at the table and holding talks for the sake of talks is a waste of time.

The Mideast peace talks benefit the United States more than any other country because the negotiation process strengthens Washingtons position vis--vis the regional axis of resistance, which includes Syria and its allies. In fact, the peace talks will produce no tangible results for the parties involved, and like the previous negotiations, this round of talks will certainly fail and lead to nothing.
